Winter weddings, arrrghhh what can I say, such a beautiful, enchanting and magical time of the year that I am not shocked why so many couples choose to marry at this time… crisp white snow, breathtaking frosty mornings, the ice-kissed landscapes and the early morning sun that dances across the frosty car bonnets… truly beautiful! Winter weddings are definitely a time of year we recommend.

By having your wedding at this time of year you can take advantage of the romance of the UK winter setting, snuggling into your partner for warmth as you have your outdoor photographs taken, the smell of rich foods and hot drinks, roaring live fires and your guests dressed in beautiful attire… oh and not to mention many venues offer sizeable discounts at this time of year as well! Added Bonus!

Winter will influence the type of food you choose, the type of accessories and clothing you and your guests will wear and the style of wedding.

Daylight hours are reduced in winter and the suns sits low in the sky, it is some of the most beautiful light for photographers to shoot in… it is important that you choose your photographer wisely and that the time of day you choose to marry allows enough time for pictures to be taken… plan your day along side your photographer, chose someone who has experience of winter weddings, who can work with natural and flash photography to ensure that your wedding photographs are not compromised.  You will see lots of flash photography and low light photography in our portfolio.

In winter you can walk out of your house in the morning and the sun is shining, the temperature is cold yet sky bright and within one hour you could have experienced an outburst of hailstone, rain or blustery winds!! Choose a wedding photographer who works well under ever changing weather conditions and who plans well.

Remember when wedding dress shopping that there may be freezing temperatures in at your winter wedding, be prepared with an elegant shrug or a sparkly cardigan… these will not only keep you warm but be in keeping with the winter theme! When looking at accessories think, ice, snow, rain, wind… of course purchase your beautiful stilettos but have a backup pair of snow boots or wellies and if the opportunity presents its self, get out into the elements and get creative with your photographer, you can always gurantee individuality when it comes to winter weddings! These can also add a nice quirky twist to your theme!

The nights draw in earlier in the winter, which means the dancing and partying will usually begin sooner at winter weddings (well this is my experience of weddings), guest feel more comfortable and relax quicker, they let their hair down and the party atmosphere commences sooner.

Join some of the most famous people in the world and marry in the Winter Months… (Prince William and Kate Middleton, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, Catherine Zeta Jones and  Michael Douglas)
